This page explains the criteria used to make the selection and how much each one counts. It is public so that any shop can check why it is, or is not, included.
Every recommended shop has been visited by a Guia de Barri expert, who assesses it against these criteria and signs the assessment. Then a Guia de Barri panel reviews the application and decides whether to award the seal. Those that receive it appear in the Recommended list and on the map with their seal. We publish the criteria before making the selection so that every shop knows how the decision is made.

The seal reads «Comerç de barri · Recomanat» (“neighbourhood shop · recommended”), and the two parts mean different things. Neighbourhood shop covers facts that can be checked, the ones in the table. Recommended means that we have also been there: a Guia de Barri expert has visited it, tried it and signed the assessment, and the panel has approved it.
A shop can meet every fact in the table and still not be recommended. The facts are the condition for entry; the visit and the panel make the decision.

● Official data from Barcelona City Council or checked by us on the street. Everything else is declared by the shop itself and we cannot verify it; we say so on its listing.
A place on the list cannot be bought. No shop can pay to be included, to move up, or to have another removed. Shops that have a paid service with Guia de Barri are assessed exactly the same as all the others, and having one does not count as a criterion.
No votes or stars. We do not collect anyone’s reviews or ratings, neither our own nor from any other platform.
Paid spaces are labelled. When something is advertising, it says so. We never call it a recommendation.
Once a year. The seal always has the year printed on it: the 2026 seal is valid for 2026 and nothing more. A shop that closes or stops meeting a criterion is removed from the list at the next review, or sooner if we find out.
If you think your shop should be included, that some of our data is wrong, or that a criterion makes no sense, write to us and we will reply. We correct whatever is wrong.
